‘If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.’ But why not? Something that simply works as intended may not be the best version of itself. I believe in the elevation of basics, and choosing to innovate what may already be considered ‘finished’. There is an intrinsic tie between fashion as an art form and fashion as a feat of engineering and innovation- that is what draws me to design and to create. I grew up with engineers; there is always a solution to a problem presented; as a creative, I find the beauty in the solution and love the act of problem solving. To me, design is the shining example of ‘fixing’ something that doesn’t necessarily need to be fixed- we can always innovate, change, and improve even the most basic aspects of garments.
